The end of 2014 marked a new beginning for LaFollette Eye Clinic, the team, patients and the surrounding community. A beautiful new facility that was once just a dream was designed, built and then opened!
Andrew W. Howard, OD
Dr. Andy received his undergraduate degree with honors from Virginia Tech. He earned his Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, also with honors. Dr. Andy is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Fraternity, as well as Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society. He is past president of the East Tennessee Optometric Society, and holds membership in the American Optometric Association, the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, and the East Tennessee Society of Optometric Physicians.
Dr. Andy enjoys spending time with his wife, Elizabeth, and their two children, Rachel and Joseph. He is active in his church, where he serves as a deacon. Dr. Andy enjoys running, motorsports, and creative pursuits such as artistry and writing.
Elizabeth T. Howard, OD
Dr. Liz attended Murray State University for undergraduate studies, and also attended Southern College of Optometry for her doctorate degree. She completed an ocular disease fellowship at the Vitreoretinal Foundation in Memphis, giving her advanced training in the treatment of eye diseases. Her memberships include Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society and the American and Tennessee Optometric Associations.
Dr. Liz also enjoys spending time with family, especially outdoors. She is active in her church where she serves as a volunteer on various committees and outreach missions.
Melissa Pfeffer, OD
Dr. Melissa Pfeffer is a graduate of the Southern College of Optometry inMemphis, where she received clinical honors. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, and the East Tennessee Society of Optometric Physicians. Dr. Pfeffer completed an externship at Ducklo EyeCare in Nashville, in addition to externing at Campbell, Cunningham, and Taylor in Knoxville. Dr. Pfeffer enjoys fitting toric and bifocal contact lenses. She also has an interest in diagnosing and managing ocular disease, with a particular interest in diabetic eye disease.
Dr. Melissa Pfeffer grew up in Knoxville. She is a 2003 graduate of Gibbs High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of Tennessee. In her spare time, Dr. Pfeffer enjoys spending time with her family, going to church, watching UT football games, and playing with her dog.
Monica Perry, OD
Dr. Perry graduated with honors from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. She also earned the distinction of being Valedictorian of her class. She completed externships at both Southeast Eye Specialists and Kapperman & White Eyecare, both in Chattanooga. Dr. Perry also completed a residency in primary care/ocular disease at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Mountain Home, TN.
Dr. Perry grew up in Kingsport, TN. She completed her undergraduate studies at East Tennessee State University. In her spare time, Dr. Perry enjoys reading, hiking, biking, swimming, arts & crafts, and going to church.
Marc Bodenheimer, MD
Dr. Bodenheimer completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee. He earned his medical degree from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He continued his ophthalmology training with a residency at UT College of Medicine in Chattanooga. Dr. Bodenheimer completed a fellowship at the University of South Florida School of Medicine. Dr. Bodenheimer began practicing in East Tennessee in 1999. He specializes in corneal diseases, laser, and other refractive surgeries, and excels at cataract surgery.
Dr. Bodenheimer is an active leader at Providence Church in Knoxville. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two small children, and he also enjoys a variety of outdoor activities.
